What is the Kintsugi Hope Wellbeing Course?
Kintsugi Hope are a charity that aim to support people’s health and wellbeing and they have designed this 12-week course. Kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with seams of gold, and when repaired it becomes more beautiful and unique than it was before. We believe that’s true of us – we can be damaged by life’s difficulties, but we can come back stronger and more beautiful than before. The 12 sessions look at topics such as honesty, anxiety, depression, loss and perfectionism through a mixture of videos, advice and small group discussion.
Who is it for?
Kintsugi Hope is for almost anyone. If you’ve never had a mental health problem but just want to look at your own wellbeing, you are welcome. And if you’ve had a mental health difficulty but it’s current well managed, then again, you are welcome. If your mental health condition is not currently well managed then it might be best to seek the advice of a doctor, and then join our course another time. Although run through this church it’s suitable for anyone of any faith or none.
How does it work?
Our next course is planned face to face, but we do also run the course online via Zoom at times. For each session bring a notebook and pen. When we can meet face to face the session will include snacks. Sessions usually include videos, small group discussion, and some advice from the leaders. We don’t know all the answers – we’re here to learn together and from each other.
How much is it?
The course is free. When we meet face to face you might get asked to bring along some biscuits to share if you’re able.
